Antique Solid Brass Box Iron with lift & Original Slug

Antique Slug Box Iron. Measure 7.5 inch long X 4 inch wide X 6.5 inch tall. It has the original heating " Slug ". The idea of this invention of this box iron was  to heat something other than the bottom of the iron itself. Usually a piece of solid metal call a " Slug " which was then inserted into the cavity of the iron body, thereby keeping the bottom of the iron clean and free from the soot and grime that was always on the stove top.
